"The primary innovation, an MSX disease-resistant strain, will add tremendous value to ERB’s hatchery seed and will generate desirable impacts in the short term for ERB itself but also for the entire Maritimes industry, where MSX is currently located. ERB is already the primary supplier of hatchery seed in Atlantic Canada, and all companies sourcing seed from ERB will find value in disease-resistant strains as a risk-mitigation strategy to prevent economic loss. In the longer term, the incorporation of disease resistance will be a required component of any hatchery-produced seed to enable sust",
"ERB has been developing the expertise necessary to carry out a selective breeding programme on the Eastern oyster. This project aims to implement ERB’s breeding strategy to yield selective improvements and to develop genomic breeding tools to support ERB’s breeding programme.",
"One objective of this project is to establish a suitable control population which will be used to measure the expected gain from the first selection of the Firm's synthetic F2 population targeted for January 2020. A second objective is to test the impact of varying pH on oyster conditioning."
