This Project seeks to reduce the risk of further erosion on the Fraser River bank, and in particular the erosion of the Matsqui Dyke, which protects the Sumas First Nation and the Matsqui First Nation downstream. The Project will use two types of assets to achieve this : the construction of benched vane spurs along the south bank of the Fraser River and the construction of several hard points at the existing erosion arcs, to prevent them from further enlarging. Once complete, the Project is expected to protect the dyke from erosion caused by climate change.
This project includes a retrofit to the current HVAC system which is expected to create energy savings and extremely high GHG emissions reductions. The retrofit will impact the community and underserved groups by improving the air quality, accessibility and overall resiliency of the building.
