Expand entrepreneurship program delivery to Black youth entrepreneurs in Edmonton
The Impact of Race and Culture Assessment (IRCA) Expansion Project aims to expand African Canadian Civic Engagement Council's capacity to deliver IRCAs across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia. The project will enhance the training program's design, deliver the enhanced training, and expand geographic reach to underserved regions. Other project activities will include raising awareness amongst judicial professionals and fostering community involvement.
The objectives of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Program (YESSP) are to help all youth navigate through the labour market and to successfully transition into sustained employment. These objectives are attained by supporting the needs of all youth, especially youth facing barriers to develop skills, knowledge and networks through education, skills development and meaningful work experiences.
The project will deliver culturally competent and trauma-informed navigation services for Black adults in Edmonton. Individual support will be provided to Black adults navigating the criminal justice system, in addition to holistic referral services.
Through this 30-month project, the African Canadian Civic Engagement Council will help advance women’s representation in leadership and decision-making roles through systemic change. Specifically, the project will address systemic barriers for racialized women and women of African descent within governance roles. This will be achieved through education and training, mentorship, outreach and policy advocacy, and partnership development. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the project.
