The NRC is seeking a low cost system (unit cost <$25) that can continuously measure temperature, peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO2), blood pressure (BP) pulse rate, respiration rate and transmit this information wirelessly to a base station thereby allowing monitoring of ambulatory patients in locales including ERs, general wards, and homes.
BRAEBON has developed a prototype remote vital signs patient monitoring system which can report back EKG, Heart Rate, SpO2, Pulse Rate, Breathing Rate, Temperature and Activity. The system’s accuracy is currently compromised by artifacts in the raw signal. This project will address these artifacts which are specific to each of the raw signals so a reliable, accurate measurement can always be generated in the normal remote operating environment during normal everyday activities.
COVID-19 Challenge: To develop a proof of concept for low cost system (unit cost <$25) that can continuously measure temperature, peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO2), blood pressure (BP) pulse rate, respiration rate and transmit this information wirelessly to a base station thereby allowing monitoring of ambulatory patients in locales including ERs, general wards, and homes.
The business process innovation project is to test hypotheses and experiment with new mechanisms to design and optimize a repeatable and scalable business process, potentially leading to new methods related to inventory management.
BRAEBON needs to migrate partially developed technology from the temple to the wrist to collect more accurate SpO2 signals. We have a prototype which has shown that this does work and now need to add the remaining signals: EKG, Temperature and motion in order to be ready for the big ITEA-SAFETE project commencing in Jan 2024.
This Market Diversification Action Plan project will prepare the firm to enter into future international co-innovation work.
