MAInEx project aims to take the InfoEx concept (an open exchange of professional level data) to the next level of interoperability. Navigating avalanche terrain safely requires access to the best data possible. Effective AvSAR responses require good planning and informed risk management decisions made in the field. These decisions are based on the data at hand and MAInEx will ensure the most current and accurate data is made available to SAR teams. These relevant and complete real-time condition assessments will be available to SAR groups to enable them to take appropriate action to ensure the
This project operated a data exchange service for professional avalanche operations in Canada since 1991. InfoEx is the world’s largest daily exchange of avalanche-related data and the starting point for nearly all AvSAR decisions in Canada. This data is submitted by hundreds of avalanche professionals from around 140 agencies.
The CAA has operated a data exchange service for professional avalanche operations in Canada since 1991. InfoEx is the world’s largest daily exchange of avalanche-related data and the starting point for nearly all AvSAR decisions in Canada. This data is submitted by hundreds of avalanche professionals from around 140 agencies. Accessing the information supplied by InfoEx is the crucial first step for all AvSAR callouts. However, technical limitations threaten its core purposes as the foundation of AvSAR decision making. The MAInEx project will take the InfoEx concept—an open exchange of profes
The main portion of this project (CAARAT) seeks to update and align CAA industry training program curriculum that has not yet been brought into alignment with the competency profiles. The secondary portion of this project (VCR) seeks to survey and convene a range of SAR leaders with varied capacity who may not be able to access the benefits of CAA training described in CAARAT.

This project seeks to create a more robust training progression in avalanche search and rescue (AvSAR) with the development of a fundamental course and revision of a more advanced course. This standardized training program will better meet the needs of professional and volunteer search and rescue (SAR) practitioners in both Official Languages by helping to build instructor capacity in regions where currently there are challenges to serve dedicated SAR teams and other avalanche practitioners in need of AvSAR training.
