Upcycling municipal and industrial food waste into compostable bioplastics.$1,000Kvalue2023start2025end

This project aims to convert food waste into high-value biodegradable plastics through optimized bacterial fermentation, offering a sustainable and scalable solution for organic waste management.

Eurostars 2521 NextPHAse: Introducing Functional PHA-based Formulations and Applications to the Plastics Industry$500Kvalue2023start2024end

As part of the international consortium project “Eurostars 2521 NextPHAse”, this project will focus on producing and utilizing novel PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) building blocks from organic waste streams, to develop novel bioplastic resin formulations and high value applications. These formulations will replicate the properties of commonly used petroleum plastics and will be drop-in solutions for existing plastic manufacturing facilities. Manufacturing high value applications from waste derived PHA biopolymers will contribute to a circular and bio-based economy.

Upcycling municipal and industrial food waste into compostable bioplastics$449Kvalue2022start2023end

The objective of this project is to convert food waste, which would otherwise end up in landfills, into home compostable and marine biodegradable bioplastics called polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs).

Developing a Synthetic Biology Platform for synthesizing new PHA bacteria and metabolic pathways$250Kvalue2019start2021end

Developing computational tools to create our 2nd generation synthetic PHA bacteria with greater efficiency.

Innovation Assistance Program – Round 2$158Kvalue2020start2020end

The funding provided from the Innovation Assistance Program is to assist innovative, early-stage small- and medium-sized enterprises that are unable to access existing COVID-19 business support.

Innovation Assistance Program$132Kvalue2020start2020end

The funding provided by the IAP program is intended to assist innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in the start-up phase that cannot access existing commercial support related to COVID-19.

Upcycling municipal and industrial food waste into compostable bioplastics$100Kvalue2022start2022end

The objective of this project is to engineer specialized bacteria to transform food waste into compostable bioplastics.

Innovation Assistance Program – Round 2.5$70.5Kvalue2020start2021end

Marketing and Sales for Early Adopters of Genecis’ technology.$30.0Kvalue2019start2020end

Genecis uses bacteria to make premium materials affordable. Our first product line is a biodegradable plastic resin known as PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates) used for high-end applications, like 3D printing filaments. Our proprietary technology reduces the PHA resin production costs by 40% by offsetting feedstock cost, lowering the barrier for plastic manufacturers to create healthy and affordable products. To date, Genecis has scaled up to pilot scale, and cultivated bacteria which has conversion rates that exceeds standard paid feedstocks used by traditional PHA manufacturers. The objective of t

PHA Bioplastic International R&D and Sales Partners$15.0Kvalue2019start2020end

Cultivate early adopters of Genecis' technology in the form of R&D or Proof-of-Concept projects. Our main target is chemical/plastic companies who are seeking to develop a new composite biodegradable polymer.
