The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding to address prevention, intervention, and suppression as suppression alone (e.g. arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration) has not been successful in delivering lasting change.
To support the stabilization and expansion of the First Nation Community Safety Officer (FNCSO) pilot project in Saskatchewan by expanding the number of Nations served as well as increasing the number of FNCSO positions. This would result in the increased presence of dedicated and culturally appropriate community liaison and enforcement capacity in the identified communities.
The Project will continue to improve the ICE unit capacity in Saskatchewan by hiring additional resources to process the backlog of cases, by offering training (Saskatoon and Regina Police Services), and purchasing technological equipment to assist with ICE investigations.
The overall objective of this Project is to increase capacity of local Internet Child Exploitation Units in the Province of Saskatchewan. The Saskatoon Police Service and the Regina Police Service will work together to advance efforts to combat internet child exploitation. With more investigator resources assigned to both units, this funding will help address the increased file load of investigators and the ability to dedicate more time to proactive online investigations.
This funding is for engagement sessions that will facilitate input and help identify significant issues with program/service delivery in the forty-five First Nations, who are signatory to the thirty-three CTAs in Saskatchewan. This will establish an information baseline to expedite one on one renewal discussion between the recipient communities and the funders, planned to begin in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024-25.
The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding for engagement sessions with Community Tripartite Agreements communities in collaboration with provinces and territories.
