The JVPHome is a medical device that promises to dramatically reduce hospital readmission rates for patients with congestive heart failure by enabling clinicians to remotely visualize and monitor the jugular venous pressure.
This project involves the development of data visualization tools, the preparation and analysis of clinical data, and the construction of a scalable data repository for the JVP cardiac diagnostic device
Develop and commercialize an innovative medical devise.
Heart failure is a devasting and chronic disease affecting an estimated 600,000 Canadians. It is characterized by episodes of severe shortness of breath and leg swelling resulting in frequent, prolonged hospital admissions and often high rate of hospital readmission. Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) symptoms are caused by pressure build-up within the heart. JVPLabs, in collaboration with the National Research Council, plans on developing a noninvasive home heart failure monitoring device that assesses key physiologic parameters important to the management of heart failure. The data collected by
Determine the feasibility of heart failure monitoring for dialysis patients.

The JVPHome is a medical device enabling remote monitoring of heart failure patients following discharge from hospital. Heart failure is a life-threatening disorder with ~ 25% of patients being readmitted to hospital within 30 days following initial discharge. The JVPHome promises to dramatically reduce these readmissions by enabling clinicians to remotely visualize the jugular venous pressure (JVP; neck vein height) and adjust medications to prevent recurrent heart failure. Although the JVP can be visually identified, its identification remains a challenge. The Covid-19 pandemic has highli
