The Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) teams in OSARVA have the capability to work together through interoperability partly due to a prior SARNIF grant. OSARVA would like to expand on this base by providing consistent team training refreshers, equipment, enhanced communication, and incident management software for every team.
This project aims to create digital media videos, posters, brochures, a website and a school package, containing information culturally relevant to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, with Search and Rescue prevention teachings and tools to stay safe outdoors. This content will spread a message of awareness on safety and search and rescue prevention, with a key focus on young people who may take risks when traveling from the north to south.
