The company will replace its cabinet panel finishing line with a state-of-the-art automated line to complement the company's Industry 4.0 enabled facility and increase line productivity by 50%.
Muskoka manufactures custom cabinetry for residential and commercial markets. The project will implement technological innovativeness using collaborative robots that will dramatically change the assembly of cabinets. The project will be similar to the assembly of automobiles using conveyor belts in a newly constructed facility addition.
SMARTSonic™ will be the fastest robotic panel processing cell in the world, integrating an automated rainbow stacking panel and inventory handling system, NBM (Nested Based Manufacturing), robotics, RFID, 2D vision for part recognition and ERP.
SMARTStream project will be streamlining and refining processes to increase output from panel processing to assembly through automation.
The aim of this project is to implement a tactical approach for saving cash by linking the financial statements to business operation and creating tools to measure business improvements, against set targets and identify opportunities to drive improvement to profitability, business robustness and supply chain resilience.
This project will study the viability of commercializing Muskoka's core technology and processes. Muskoka has come full circle in modeling its core manufacturing processes after the automobile industry utilizing advanced automation and robotics to yield high gross margins in the otherwise low margin wood industry.
This project will test hypotheses and experiment with new mechanisms to design and optimize a repeatable and scalable business process, which may result in new business in the firm's cabinet manufacturing business.
Muskoka has, over the past 2 years, developed a prototype AGV capable of docking with and moving heavily loaded parts carts between factory sections and up and down a connecting ramp. This proof-of-concept prototype is now operational in beta testing. The next step is to gather all possible operational data, refine the software and electromechanical systems and develop a design for a pre-production prototype.
The Project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the Firm.
