This project is to build a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility to manufacture lipids, conduct lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation and expand the company's existing vaccine manufacturing capacity in Calgary, AB.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the global supply of nucleic acid products including mRNA and plasmid DNA and delivery vehicles such as lipid nanoparticles which have been demonstrated to be important tools for outbreak management predominately via a mass vaccination approach. The time to market for these products is hindered by complexities in production, production processes, analytical methods, and complicated supply chain, intellectual property landscape and quality management systems. Northern RNA's intention is to provide agile platform production approaches and enabling systems, infr
Establish oligonucleotide manufacturing, and self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) manufacturing capabilities.
Establish contract manufacturing facility for vaccines and lipids in Western Canada
“As part of the international consortium project “H5Nx Vaccine: Pan-H5Nx subtype Influenza Protection: mRNA Vaccine Using optimized Lipid Nanoparticles”, this project proposes to develop a groundbreaking biomanufacturing platform for a novel pan-H5Nx mRNA vaccine.
Northern RNA is developing GMP manufacturing of mRNA and DNA based vaccines at our Calgary, Alberta based facility. GMP certification requires the development and documentation of all processes related to the manufacturing of product. It is our goal to be manufacturing 100 million doses of vaccines by early Q1 2022. This project is to document our proprietary GMP manufacturing processes and support the writing of the required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This project will allow us to accelerate our GMP certification process to ensure we meet our goal of supplying 100 million dose
The firm is aiming to develop lab methodologies that are applicable for oligonucleotide separation and its purification. These methods will be applicable depending on the length of the oligonucleotide synthesized and degree of purity required for its final application. The Youth will support the method development in this regard.
