Increase biomanufacturing capacity for natural health and cannabis products - Budget 2021
Support for PBG Biopharma Inc. to continue operations during the COVID-19 pandemic
This project aims to develop broad spectrum immuno-modulatory Natural Health Product to fight virus infections including COVID-19.
The objective of this project is to advance the commercial-scale production of THCA using an alternative process approach.
There is large market demand for THCA, a component of the cannabis plant and a well-known precursor of THC. Its popularity is due to the ease of calculating dosage amounts, its powder format and its availability to provide a round about way of producing high potency THC (>98%). The current method of THCA preparation, requires a C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1 safety requirements) extraction environment and is therefore capital-intensive, high risk and difficult when trying to achieve scale-up. The objective of this project is to develop a new procedure to extract THCA (Phase I) and to scale to comm
Project will consist of working with the manufacturing and operation teams to train candidate on GMP standard quality systems in the processing and manufacturing of various cannabis ingredients. Specifically, in the next 6 to 12 months, they will be involved in the extraction, purification and isolation of various cannabinoids for both development and commercial scale production using ethanol and hydro-carbon extraction processes. Candidate will follow the company's quality management system to ensure documentation and quality control measures are followed. They will also work closely with the
This project is to assist with developing, implementing and maintaining PBG BioPharma Inc.'s Quality Management System (QMS) for cannabis and hemp processing. A QMS is a formalized system that documents processes, procedures and responsibilities for achieving quality objectives in order to consistently meet customer expectations and regulatory compliance.
This project aims to assist with the extraction, purification and isolation of various cannabinoids from cannabis during scale up and large scale production development while following GMP standard quality systems.
Through the application of national and local priorities, the CSJ program seeks to provide youth, particularly those who face barriers to employment with access to work opportunities. Funded employers must demonstrate that they are providing quality work experiences for youth that provide opportunities to develop and improve their skills.
