This project is mostly related to technology research and development.
ReThink Milling is developing an energy efficient grinding machine. A fifty (50) Metric ton (tonne) per hour prototype has been tested at Proof of Concept. This project will prepare the Conjugate Anvil Hammer Mill (CAHM) for an extended pre-commercial demonstration. Phase 1 will establish the operating conditions to maximize energy efficiency - at least 50% better than current industry benchmark technology (High Pressure Grinding Rolls, HPGR). Phase 2 will identify the modifications required to take this prototype to a mine site and install it for an extended demonstration run. Phase 3 will en
The MonoRoll is the finer grinding prototype in the Conjugate Anvil Hammer Mill (CAHM) technology platform. A first prototype was constructed and initial testing was completed in 2020/2021 as part of the Canadian government's CrushIt! Challenge. The technology was runner up in the challenge after demonstrating a 25% energy savings compared to a ball mill for the same grinding performance. Following the challenge, the development work was paused so that the CAHM team could focus on the coarser grinding CAHM machine, however the team aims to leverage the learnings from the CrushIt! Challenge wor
ReThink Milling Inc (RTM) is developing a set of highly energy efficient grinding machines for the minerals industry. The equipment also has significant scope 2 and 3 Green House Gas emissions benefits that follow from reducing or eliminating the need for the manufacture and transport of consumable steel grinding media that are essential in conventional tumbling mills. This project will increase the fundamental understanding of the breakage mechanisms and efficiency gains in the CAHM, in part by testing more extreme operating conditions (particle size and feed rates). It will also quantify the
