The objective of this project is to further develop the Cattle Scan sensor and software platform to allow for better water consumption monitoring and more precise decision-making.
Cattle tracking with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is essential in the livestock industry as it enables producers to monitor and manage their herds more efficiently and accurately. It allows for improved animal welfare, increased productivity and reduced labour costs.
Currently, all provinces and territories are recognized free from bovine tuberculosis (TB) in domestic livestock. Methods to detect granulomatous lesions in mature cattle in high-speed slaughter lines are manual. This project aims to compare different imaging systems for the detection of these lesions to improve CFIA's TB surveillance program, and maintain Canada's tuberculosis-free status.
Cow monitoring solution from Cattle Scan depends on reliable infrastructure, which can be a challenge in rural areas. The infrastructure consists of an antenna and Internet connectivity to provide a telecommunication channel for the cow monitoring solution. This project is to build a reliable component of the infrastructure (gateway) that will be able to connect to the cow monitoring sensors, support cellular and WiFi Internet connection and be durable to the rough environment of the rural and farm operation.
This project aims to significantly reduce the manufacturing cost of our advanced rumen bolus technology by redesigning its electronic components and selecting cost-effective alternatives. Additionally, we will optimize the bolus design for scalable production, enabling economies of scale and greater efficiency in larger orders. These improvements will enhance the affordability and accessibility of our solution, helping dairy and livestock farmers adopt cutting-edge health and productivity monitoring tools while ensuring sustainable growth for our business.
The objective of this project is to develop a solution that will detect the abnormal activity of dairy and beef cattle and will trigger alerts to producers. The solution of monitoring cow's activity level will incorporate an IoT sensor, cloud platform and Machine Learning module to helps dairy producers with a series of important decisions (e.g. breeding time, sickness, etc.)
