Not a Project (Mandated or Core Funding)
The objective of this project is capacity building activities that build knowledge and skills related to renewable energy and grid modernization projects in Canada.
Space Environment Canada is a consortium bringing together the CARISMA, TREx-ASI, AUTUMN, AUGO, SWAN, AuroraX, AuroraMAX, and Aurora Watch projects. This is a ground-based network of magnetometers, multi-spectral ASIs, single beam hyper-spectral riometers, additional specialized optical, radio, and magnetic instruments, and very mature data dissemination systems. The network spans most of Canada, and captures multi-scale processes and structures with scale sizes ranging from kilometers to thousands of kilometers. This project is a collaboration between the University of Calgary, the University
To optimize, consolidate, and expand the network of ground-based instruments deployed across Canada in order to make Canada a key partner in international space missions for increased space weather understanding. The instruments will collect auroral images, which will be openly available with minimal delay to Canadian and international scientists. This data will help better understand space weather phenomena, leading to an increased resilience of the Canadian critical infrastructure.

Establish a centre of quantum technology expertise in Calgary, Alberta
The objectives of the project are to achieve the maximum impact of Canada's participation in the Swarm mission through support of: • Investigation of the effects of the TII image anomaly on data products, identification and implementation of remedial measures and, improvement of TII data calibrations; • Management and optimization of available operating time of the three CEFI instruments; • Validation of EFI data through comparison with ground-based incoherent scatter radars; • Promotion and facilitation of the scientific use of Swarm CEFI data.

The Micro-net aims to develop trustworthy technologies for autonomous human-machine systems (HMS) to support combat operations. Specifically, applications for autonomous decision support, real-time battle-field awareness, human-robot task-forces and cognitive command assistants.
The AutoDefence Micro-net research objective is to develop trustworthy technologies for autonomous human-machine systems applied in dynamic and contested defence environments. To address the above practical challenges, the AutoDefence Micro-net will focus on the following three major research themes: 1) Cognitive Platform for Trusted Support: Novel methodologies to design trustworthy decision-support systems will be developed. 2) Cognitive Cycle of Machine Learning: Focus on cognitive load determination for semiautonomous systems in contested environments, autonomous learning systems

In space, without the cues provided by Earth's gravity, astronauts' bodies and brains adapt to various changes. One of those changes affects the astronauts' wayfinding skills, which can affect their performance during their first two to three weeks on the ISS, and may affect spatial orientation while performing complex tasks, like robotics. The study will look at the impact of a long period in a microgravity environment on the behavioural and neurological mechanisms of wayfinding in astronauts. It will also explore how long the astronauts' cognitive and neurological changes would persist follo
