Avian Influenza (AI) is a contagious viral infection that can cause severe illness and mortality in gallinaceous poultry (chicken, turkey, quails). It also has the potential to cross over to mammals, including companion animals such as cats and dogs. AI is currently diagnosed in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) laboratories by molecular methods. This process is time consuming, labour intensive and requires expensive laboratory equipment. 11281232 Canada Inc. (LFAnt Medical) aims to develop an easy-to-use, rapid, and affordable lateral flow test for the detection of AI in the field. T
Through ADAPT: Accessible Diagnostics for Aging-in-Place Testing will be completed in a collaboration betweenLFAnt Medical and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to improve access to health screening solutions for older Canadians. The project focuses on the verification of the ADAPT platform for the early detection of urinary biomarkers for chronic kidney disease (CKD), which poses disproportionate and preventable health risks among older adults. The ADAPT platform combines the NRC’s latest innovations in microfluidics-powered technologies with LFAnt medical’s next generation electro
The SENSE-APP will provide older drivers with timely knowledge based on their actual driving risk for accidents. It will be an important tool which will help older drivers put mitigations in place to improve their driving safety and/or begin to plan for the changes to living arrangements associated with retirement from driving. The SENSE-APP project has two phases starting with the creation of a proof of concept and wireframes followed by an app prototype. All work will be done in collaboration with older drivers to ensure that the app is effective and usable for the project key use case. This
