In order for robots to autonomously navigate commercial retail environments in a safe and efficient manner, there is a need to develop algorithms that can reason effectively in highly confined areas, cluttered with constantly changing obstacles, in organic layouts. Safety is paramount in these environments to avoid human injury and property damage. Advanced state-of-the-art software algorithms are required to be developed to achieve this goal.
Avidbots designs, manufactures, and markets autonomous robotic floor cleaning equipment for a variety of industries including commercial, government, hospital, education and retail customers. The current product, NEO, primarily operates in large facilities such as airports, malls, factories, and institutional buildings. This Project is to develop new and improved autonomous navigation software suitable for smaller, more complex environments such as Big Box retail and grocery stores with narrower physical locations subject to tighter turning radius and frequently changing route layouts/obstac
