Funding will support research and development to address National Defence’s Challenge: North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Modernization Science & Technology (S&T) Contest. Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and its defence and security partners seek to advance capabilities in five key areas: quantum technologies; autonomous systems; counter-uncrewed aerial systems (CUAS); Arctic mobility and navigation of military platforms; and energy solutions that are scalable, efficient, and sustainable for current and future Arctic operations. The initiative targets critical scie
The purpose of this agreement is to develop and test an integrated mechanical recovery and oil spill response system prototype for heavy oil in cold and ice prone marine environments.
C-CORE and GHGSat are developing a means to monitor offshore platform Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. The Offshore Emissions Monitoring (OEM) innovation builds on several sensors and the success of recently launched GHGSat high-resolution satellites (Iris and Hugo) in detecting the smallest GHG emissions ever measured by satellite. This project will advance OEM from concept validation with offshore platforms to an operational application solution ready for implementation. The application domain is offshore operators, government environment departments, and regulatory bodies. The drivers for im
The collaborative research Project develops a scientific research methodology to deploy sensors aboard an ice-going ship (Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker CCGS Henry Larsen) in order to measure ice severity. Ice severity is related to a number of physical properties of ice, including: ice strength, ice thickness, ice age, ice coverage, ice piece size, pressure within the ice pack, etc. There is a significant body of scientific knowledge related to measuring certain ice properties from a ship but there are significant gaps in this knowledge. One of the main research gaps is that previous researc
The purpose of this agreement/project is to provide innovative pre-commercial solution(s) that will increase awareness, adoption, and further development of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI). The CGDI is a digital infrastructure that provides interoperability and access to Canada's geospatial information on the Internet. It is available to government and non-government decision-makers who are focused on social, economic and environmental priorities and to the Canadian population at large.
The purpose of this agreement/project is to develop new Data as a Service (DaaS) solutions to increase geospatial data findability, discoverability, and interoperability.
The focus of this project will be to provide key business services to targeted SMEs that will assist them in addressing key organizational challenges around business strategy and tactics as well as issues around data management and exploitation. This project would see C-CORE leverage its experience (via LOOKNorth within it) to help companies with specific RPAS business-related challenges they are facing. These will vary from company to company and may include issues including business plan review, targeted market assessment, and strategy development.
