Build capacity for servicing contract
The stripping (i.e. cleaning) of spent catalytic coating from anodes, recovering the precious metal Iridium and determining if all remaining impurities have been removed from anodes.
The successful completion of this POC will produce a novel method to recover noble metals from PEM electrodes using an environmentally friendly chemical stripping approach. Iridium has been identified as a bottleneck to the rapidly growing green hydrogen production using polymer electrolyte membrane PEM electrolysis of water.
Establish a certified FRP bonder qualification training and service centre facility
In this project Eastern Composites plans to test a concept of stripping catalytic coatings from mesh anodes used globally for nickel electrowinning and preparing them for recoating using a unique combination of customized Molten Salt Bath (MSB) treatments during the stripping process.
