3+2 Germany BMBF – Hybrid-SSE - Advancing Hybrid Solid-State Electrolytes for Stable Nickel-rich Cathodes$600Kvalue2025start2028end

This project aims to develop next-generation all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) using hybrid solid-state electrolytes (Hybrid-SSEs) to address critical limitations of conventional lithium-ion battery systems. By embedding high-conductivity ceramics within cross-linked polymer matrices, the project seeks to combine the ionic conductivity of ceramics with the flexibility and processability of polymers. The focus lies in overcoming issues like ceramic brittleness, interfacial instability with Li-metal anodes, and incompatibility with high-voltage cathodes.

Development of High Energy Density Li-Ion Electrode Manufacturing Process$545Kvalue2021start2024end

Incremental improvement of production speed and performance of lithium batteries by about 30% and development of thicker electrodes by about 30%.

UKRI NZ: 10040051 - CeramBatt$430Kvalue2022start2025end

There is a global race for the development of the next generation of EV battery technology. Batteries using solid-state electrolytes have attracted significant interest due to their high energy density, increased safety and durability. Successful implementation in commercial vehicles will ultimately be determined by the ability to produce them efficiently, sustainably, cost-effectively and at scale. This international consortium project “CeramBatt” will develop and prove a new manufacturing route for solid state electrolyte (SSE) batteries using a novel combination of advanced inductively coup
