Excir is developing technology solutions to achieve better outcomes in the electronic waste (“E-waste”) recycling market. This project is seeking to improve on its existing technology and scale.
Establish and Operate a Pilot Catalytic Converter Recycling Plant - Budget 2021
Every year Canada produces an estimated 725,000 tonnes of E-Waste. Excir Works from Calgary has a proven, efficient, environmentally-friendly process to recycle the gold and metals from electronic waste. Their technology can recover +99% of gold as well as other precious, and base metals, from E-waste and similar waste streams, such as catalytic converters. In this project, Excir Works will engineer, design, and manufacture a commercial pilot unit (a.k.a. plant) for the Excir hydrometallurgy technology. The plant will be capable of delivering high throughput processing of E-Waste and validat
This project will broaden Excir’s precious metal extraction technology to recover additional metals from E-waste, and recover metals from activated carbon and silicon carbide in catalytic converters and industrial catalysts.
As part of the international consortium project “[EWPPMGU]”, this project focuses on industrial research and development to recover critical minerals like Nickel, Cobalt, Lithium, Platinum, and Palladium from electronic waste (E-waste) and battery systems. Utilizing advanced chemistry, it aims to expand Excir's innovative extraction process to additional critical mineral-rich feedstocks identified by WEEE Scotland Ltd. and The Royal Mint (TRM). By building on TRM's success in using Excir’s chemistry to extract gold from E-waste, the project seeks to broaden the range of extractable metals and
Excir Works is developing a novel technology that effectively and cost-efficiently extracts precious metals. Through this project Excir intends to expand beyond the surface E-Waste segment to other verticals which could include: E-Waste powder, mining, spent catalysts and pharmaceuticals.
Support for Excir Works Corp. to continue operations during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Assets and Inventory Coordinator will play an important role in the commercialization of Excir's proprietary precious metal recovery technology by designing, coding, and building a custom inventory management software solution. Once the system is complete, the intern will assess and refine the solution by applying it to managing company inventory, material flows, and the cost tracking of material processes. The intern will also assist in the critical implementation of the IP strategy, which includes IP developed from this automated traveler for material through Excir's facility.
Through the application of national and local priorities, the CSJ program seeks to provide youth, particularly those who face barriers to employment with access to work opportunities. Funded employers must demonstrate that they are providing quality work experiences for youth that provide opportunities to develop and improve their skills.
