This project aims to validate and optimize phytotechnology for the immobilization and management of PFAS, based on dense tree plantations irrigated with wastewater. The system under development, which has no discharge, bioaccumulates PFAS in biomass while reducing wastewater volumes. The project will study the behavior of PFAS through environmental matrices, volatilization pathways, and hydrological dynamics, and will explore sustainable methods for biomass disposal.
Study of the potential of technology to immobilize and contain PFAS substances on landfill sites. The aim is to reduce leachate volumes to contain PFAS compounds within landfill boundaries, thus representing an economical and ecological alternative to current PFAS management challenges.
The research project will attempt to demonstrate the proof-of-concept of containing certain contaminants of emerging interest through the use of vegetated plant technology. The results will serve as a basis for demonstrating the economic and ecological advantages of this alternative.
The project will support the development of the firm’s intellectual property capabilities.
