The objective of this project is to identify the skills technicians need to safely and effectively install and maintain air source heat pumps in Canada. Building on prior work in Ontario, the Initial Recipient will assess skill gaps in British Columbia and the Atlantic Regions, to provide a broader, national perspective on trades involved in heat pump installation. An updated curriculum, shaped by instructor and participant feedback, will support a Heat Pump Training Pilot Program offering subsidized green technology upskilling to at least 100 trade workers.
The objective of this project is to assess and address the skills needed for technicians to install and maintain air source heat pumps for residential HVAC in Ontario. Workshops will identify necessary training changes to support the transition to clean technologies.
