Develop a scaled-up process for manufacturing graphite-resin bipolar plates based on newly developed resin with superior mechanical properties for fuel cell applications.
This business innovation (“BI”) project is designed to help accelerate development of firm’s sales team and increase the customers' base and annual revenues.
The overall project objective is to develop an alternative composite graphite and resin material with comparable or improved functional properties that enables the continuous cost-efficient scalable production of bipolar plates for fuel cell applications.
Conduct a feasibility study and develop a proof-of-concept machine of sealing solutions for high volume production of fuel cell bipolar plates.
Process trials and collect data from the finished fuel cell bipolar plates impregnated with the firm’s proprietary resin product to test whether performance of bipolar plates meet the technical requirements.
Development of prototype EMI filters made from the firm’s expanded graphite composite materials. Testing of the prototypes to determine their technical feasibility as the basis for potential EMI filter products.
Develop an International co-innovation plan with a UK partner, a manufacturer of power systems for construction, for further collaboration to displace diesel power generators with cost competitive hydrogen fuel cell systems.
The project provides a recent graduate with a Master’s degree in Physics with a career development opportunity in the role of Research Scientist.
The Project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the Firm.
Through the application of national and local priorities, the CSJ program seeks to provide youth, particularly those who face barriers to employment with access to work opportunities. Funded employers must demonstrate that they are providing quality work experiences for youth that provide opportunities to develop and improve their skills.
