The project is to create an environmental monitoring system to meet the requirements of the offshore construction industry. This will combine a small, deployable, autonomous platform and potentially a fixed mooring, suitable for high flow environments once the project is finished and becomes operational. The mobile system will be deployable from unmanned surface vehicles and capable of moving from one site to another quickly and autonomously. In addition, the system will offer the fusion of acoustic data from the underwater sensors with visual data from cameras on a surface expression. This al
JASCO wants to update its autonomous acoustic data recording devices and to add real-time, in-situ monitoring systems for in-situ processing to derive desired informational products. The Firm's clients want JASCO to telemeter this information to shore via cellular, VHF, WiFi, Iridium, cabled networks, and acoustic modems. We need to warehouse, process, and visualize extremely large volumes of acoustic data and derived informational products. JASCO must add new and improved signal processing algorithms to automate detection, identification, localization, and measurement of sounds in the ocean (

This project will advance the state of the art in digital signal processing to improve detection range in the presence of loud sound sources, classification of endangered killer whales, data flow from remote sites to analysts on shore and operationalize vessel tracking.
This position will enable a full time resource who will be responsible for qualification of instrument firmware updates
Development of the Ocean Observer, an acoustic recording and processing instrument. Involves electronic, mechanic and software research, development and qualification.
Drafting, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of the firm's subsea mooring components, instrumentation and pressurized housings used in scientific fieldwork
The software tester will provide support to the Firm in research services for assessing and mitigating underwater noise. Specifically, the underwater acoustic equipment that the Firm builds, and subsequently tests, in support of these efforts.
