Funding will support concept development to identify solutions to National Defence’s Challenge: Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) Concept Development 2024. Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and its defence and security partners are seeking CUAS solutions that can detect and/or defeat Micro and Mini UAS with systems that can be integrated into the broader military command and control systems.
Jones Microwave is developing a commercial-grade, light-activated solid-state plasma planar switch and phase shifter operating at high frequencies. The project will finalize design, packaging, and testing to meet commercial specs for various applications.
The primary goal of this project is to progress the commercialization of a novel high-frequency switch technology by advancing its technology readiness level from TRL 5 to TRL 7.
The client will extend their current switch technology via the integration of a novel control system, as suggested by potential MNE customers. This will also enable future integration into IC semiconductor platforms.
The project will deliver a new integrated LED micro-array driver and control network, which represents a key building block in the firm's optical switch technology, for future applications (antenna structures).
This project will develop and demonstrate a compact, FPGA-integrated VCSEL control board designed to drive a reconfigurable 2x2 plasma antenna submodule for defence and dual-use RF applications. The work advances Canadian capability in frequency-agile, and polarization-agile antenna systems.
The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
This project will integrate the switch optics, bias control, driver circuity, and thermal management for an individual switch component. This will enable client to manufacture and sell a component for direct insertion into high-frequency and high-power systems within the test and measurement, aerospace, and telecommunications markets.
The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
This project will develop a high-power high-frequency specialty switch. The switch technology developed in this project will be a key component in enabling environmentally aware and adaptable millimeter-wave 5G point-to-point communications with improved security.
The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
The project will support ongoing development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
The Project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the Firm.
The purpose of this CanExport Innovation agreement is to support Canadian organizations to carry out activities related to pursuing opportunities that would lead to establishing new collaborative Research and Development (R&D) partnerships between the Recipient and foreign organizations in order to support R&D on the Recipient’s technology and advance its commercialization.
The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
Participation in the NRC IRAP’s PIC Summit Europe mission held in the Netherlands, November 6-10, 2023, led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to develop international partnerships and potential project ideas for the 2023 Xecs Call for Proposals.
