The objective of the EAF is to support community based projects across Canada that improve accessibility, remove barriers, and enable Canadians with disabilities to participate in and contribute to their community.
This project will improve access to services in KCA’s affiliated First Nations communities by establishing private, safe, and destigmatizing meeting spaces. These spaces will reduce barriers to care, provide culturally safe environments, and encourage community members to seek support close to home. By creating accessible and supportive infrastructure, the initiative will enhance service availability, improve client experience, and foster early and consistent intervention amid the ongoing mental health and substance use crisis.
The Cultural Healing and Supportive Pathways for Indigenous Victims of Crime Project will promote healing and justice by offering land-based, culturally grounded programs that address the holistic needs of victims, their families, and communities. It will incorporate community insight, guidance, and knowledge into the project, centering the voice of victims who have lived experience and can provide first-hand insight into gaps and solutions relevant to their communities. This will strengthen partnerships between community-based organizations and the justice system to improve service pathways
