Establish pressure-tolerant subsea battery production facility
Kraken is building upon the success of previous ThunderFish AUV projects with the development of the next generation of the ThunderFish platform. This project will focus on the development and testing of the ThunderFish XL, which will be a 6,000m rated autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capable of performing survey and inspection missions as a permanent subsea resident AUV. The primary objective of the SeaResT project is to develop the technology necessary to transit AUV operations from purely surface based launch and recovery to subsea resident operations.
Development of a next-generation platform autnomous underwater vehicle for data collection, fusion, and integration.
Kraken is developing a dual-band Circular Synthetic Aperture Sonar (C-SAS) system to improve underwater imaging performance, target classification confidence, and operational flexibility. Building on Kraken's proven SAS technology, the system supports both linear and circular SAS imaging capabilities using a modular hardware architecture suitable for both person-portable, and larger UUV payloads.
This project will focus on the development of a next generation AUV that can carry an array of sensors and custom payload modules, including next-generation Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) and laser sensors.
During this project, the Candidate will lead and support activities that will help develop improved processes that are directly involved with Kraken’s Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) survey operations. These processes will be used in a commercial survey operation during the project. The improvement of these processes is relevant as Kraken continues to grow its RaaS business.
As part of Kraken’s ongoing efforts to extend the companies capabilities with respect to Robotics as a Service (RaaS), Kraken has invested in several autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) platforms including the ThunderFish XL-R, ThunderFish LD-UUV, and Riptide R100. Over the next year, Kraken plans to field three commercial AUVs as assets for their RaaS programs and considerable engineering test platforms will be required to support Kraken’s continued R&D efforts. All work is expected to be completed at the Kraken's Dartmouth facility located at the Center for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurshi
Kraken Robotic Systems Inc. (Kraken) must do a real-world demonstration of its KATFISH AUV and Synthetic Aperture Sonar technology as part of a bid proposal submitted to the Royal Danish Navy. The total cost will be $315,500.
Through the application of national and local priorities, the CSJ program seeks to provide youth who face barriers to employment with access to work opportunities. Funded employers must demonstrate that they are providing quality work experiences for youth that provide opportunities to develop and improve their skills.
