Support Recipient to expand its pilot plant for lithium-ion battery recycling technology
Lab 4 will develop advanced process control systems for critical minerals recovery technology, optimizing extraction efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
The project will develop the anode circuit in order to integrate this processing unit into the overall system to produce battery-grade critical minerals from recycled lithium-ion batteries.

Lab 4 will conduct a pilot-scale demonstration of its proprietary Advanced Recovery Circuit (ARC) technology. This project will process a range of complex, real-world Canadian feedstocks to validate the ARC's recovery rates (>99%), environmental performance, and economic viability. The pilot will de-risk the technology for commercial scale-up and help to secure offtake agreements for our planned 1,000-tonne demonstration facility.
The goal of the project is to determine technical parameters for efficient lithium-ion battery recycling. Technical improvement includes determining engineering parameters like mass balance towards the scalability of the recycling technology being developed. Also, the program will include some test works and third-party validations of the developing process for the materials contained in the lithium-ion batteries.
