The project encompasses all technical aspects of developing a proximity sensing ASIC(s), initially targeted to hands-free water saving faucets; but flexible in scope to address multiple applications requiring low-cost proximity sensing. It will include the technical feasibility, completion of the specification (technical requirements), the full product development to realize the actual integrated circuit(s), and the supporting engineering efforts to bring it into mass production. The development will be in-house, with consideration to out-sourcing some TBD portion based on technical feasibilit
The project will create a platform and develop all core functionality of a proximity sensing platform initially targeted to hands-free water saving faucets; but flexible in scope to address multiple applications requiring low-cost proximity sensing. It will include all engineering efforts – software, hardware, mechanical, reliability and QA - to launch the initial product. The initial launch will be based on available market components, including Infrared Sensors and microcontrollers, but used in a novel single-voltage architecture. Phase 2 and future implementations will provide cost-reductio
The project will involve marketing and technical development. The marketing and feasibility portion will include identifying a need to create a camera and display platform and core functionality that can be promoted and sold into the market. The technical side will include all engineering efforts to develop such platform to the point of mass production.
The purpose of the Project is to build on the existing high precision electronic systems assembly capability to be able to serve high performance demanding markets.
The project will involve technical and economic feasibility studies. The technical side will include defining the specification of the ASIC as it pertains to the market requirement. The economic side will include ASIC vendor analysis and marketing research.
