This project entitled ""On-board Processing"" will seek to test the use of non-radiation hardened devices in the harsh space environment. The most capable on-board processing devices are not radiation-hardened and as such, they require special hardware and software mitigation. Given the continued growth in digital signal processing, there is a need to enhance the on-board system performance.

This project entitled ""Wide-Swath, 10m Resolution Hyperspectral Sensor and Mission"" will explore the feasibility of using novel optical filter and detector technology in a spaceborne hyperspectral sensor that would be compact enough to fly on a small satellite while still delivering operationally superior sensitivity, coverage, and spatial and spectral resolution. Such smaller, cheaper hyperspectral satellites can be deployed in constellations that provide continental-scale imaging coverage every few days, which is critical for such applications as agriculture and defence.

Title: Behaviour Analytics from Multi Earth Observation Satellite Data. The project aims to generate higher-level fusion results that characterize the behaviours of objects. This represents information that is of high value to users. These results are derived from object-level data using machine learning technologies and by fully exploiting the available very large and diverse EO data archives. These very large datasets also present special challenges including storage, access and processing speed, data representation, and fusion methodology that is this project will address.

Agreement$102Kvalue2019start–end

Artificial intelligence (AI) running on high-performance computers can be trained to help scientists get the most out of space exploration missions. The technology is used to make decisions about where to go, what information to collect, and what data to share with scientists. This project will explore low-power hardware platforms that provide the processing power needed for AI, can be made less susceptible to the effects of radiation, and are ready for the harsh, constrained environment of space. The small size and low weight components will allow future space missions to conduct independen
