HI-RISE is a framework within which innovative UAS and innovative uses for UAS can be developed while maintaining sufficient rigor to satisfy regulators responsible for the safety of these systems. The HI-RISE framework will follow the DO-178C standard for airborne aviation software. The framework will be designed to exploit the unique characteristics of UAVs to simplify the certification process and reduce cost.
The project involves increasing the level of Canadian content in made-in-Canada RPAS and increasing their suitability for dual-use roles. Increasing Canadian content and suitability for dual-use roles is accomplished by integrating MicroPilot’s autopilot into these made-in-Canada RPAS. Suitability for dual-use roles is further enhanced by enhancements to MicroPilot’s autopilot.
Develop techniques to reverse engineer software requirements in support of DO-178C certification and improve an existing triple redundant autopilot to make it more appropriate for Urban Air Mobility applications.
