To scale up engineering and manufacturing capacity to meet increased demand of water electrolysis for green hydrogen production.
In this project, we will develop and validate go-forward capabilities required for low cost of large-scale green hydrogen, leading to early market engagement with market partners. Key activities will include: pilot and prototype demos of a 2nd Gen electrolyser; design/development of a 3rd Gen electrolyser – scaled-up design, development of new electrochemical cell configurations with significantly better energy efficiency, pilot and prototype demos, and design, modeling, and development of our patented power dispatch system for multi-unit systems. This scope will provide required validation of
Next Hydrogen is a developer and provider of water electrolysers for low cost, large-scale green hydrogen production. The company’s unique patented design enables the operational flexibility required to cost effectively utilize renewable energy sources. Next Hydrogen is a Mississauga-based company working to further scale up its product for further significant cost reduction.
As part of the international cleantech project “Demonstration of Next Hydrogen Electrolyser Integrated with GE Vernova Power Converter,” this project will focus on integration of Next Hydrogen Corporation's (NHC's) electrolyser with a custom-designed, advanced GE Vernova (GEV) AC-DC power converter and demonstration with grid, solar, and simulated wind power at the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center (the ARC). NHC and the ARC will evaluate, characterize, and model the integrated system. GEV will subsequently scale up its design to the 8 MW range for integration with NHC's new scaled-up GEN3 e
The funding provided from the Innovation Assistance Program is to assist innovative, early-stage small- and medium-sized enterprises that are unable to access existing COVID-19 business support.
The funding provided by the IAP program is intended to assist innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in the start-up phase that cannot access existing commercial support related to COVID-19.
Support Next Hydrogen's core development program by setting up, monitoring, and reporting on various testing of developmental electrolysers in custom designed and built test stations. Specific objectives include development and implementation of new test stands with improved capabilities, new test protocols, and subsequently execution of tests of the performance, durability, and reliability of new electrolyser designs.
