As part of the international consortium project “[RETAIN]”, this project will focus on improving nickel production and efficiency, enhancing sustainability, and fostering UK-Canada collaboration. This effort strengthens battery and EV production in both countries amidst significant commercial pressure.
Germany BMBF Leading-Edge Cluster project EASY led by Fraunhofer-Institut für Entwurfstechnik Mechatronik IEM The present project aims to develop decentralized machine learning (ML) algorithms for embedded and edge devices. The use cases considered in this project are the intelligent setting of profile wrapping machines and the predictive maintenance of failure-critical components in conveying applications, such as, the slip of friction wheels and drive belts due to wear or damage to bearings and gearboxes. A key goal of this project is therefore the development and implementation of learnin
UK EUREKA Network E!13277 Smart Mixing with Puratos (UK) Ltd. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will be adopted into powder blending unit operations within the food and drink industry to improve efficiency in a key unit of operation, focusing on fundamental manufacturing efficiencies to reduce business cost, improve worker safety and decrease energy.
Bilateral project: CIIP Brazil - IMOS project with Brazilian partner Mineração Apoena S.A. in Intelligent Mine Ore Stockpiles. The intelligent mine ore stockpiles (IMOS) project will develop a software package that will use machine learning to identify patterns in a mine's operational data and leverage these patterns to reduce discrepancies between the observed and expected properties of ore in the plant feed. This will include predicting the stockpile feed as well as identify the operational parameters leading to plant feed discrepancies.
This project will test hypotheses and experiment with new mechanisms to design or improve a repeatable and scalable business process, which may result in new business methods in mining solutions.
The objective of this project is to use artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to solve complex industrial problems. The two biggest advantages of AI-based approaches are the ability to continuously learn and also learn adequately from historical data. Traditionally, many process information are unmeasurable during live operations because of instrumentation limitations. Also, plants are not sufficiently optimized to maximize production quality, while minimizing waste. Using AI-based approaches, we can develop complex non-linear models from historical to predict the unmeasurable process inf
