The transition to renewable energies poses major technological challenges for power grids. As a result, accurate simulation of electromagnetic transients (EMT) is becoming essential, and computation acceleration is becoming crucial to effectively meet market requirements. Thanks to the current capabilities of our flagship platforms, the value proposition lies in the acceleration of real-time EMT simulation, integrating HIL and offering excellent interoperability with other tools, ensuring speed and accuracy. These solutions aim not only to accelerate upstream renewable energy deployment, but a
Develop and improve simulator technologies to leverage all functionalities as well as expert modeling capabilities. This will result in an improved range of specialized virtual and analog testbeds for power system applications, specifically in distribution systems and renewable energy source applications.
Eureka Xecs Cluster Project - 2022011 - SafeTrucks, led by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (Finland). OPAL-RT is contributing to the consortium by developing simulation and control tools to improve the safety and efficiency of trucks and articulated vehicles. Its involvement focuses on the project’s digital architecture, vehicle dynamics simulation, embedded communication systems, and the development of a digital twin. By integrating SIL, HIL, and DIL technologies, OPAL-RT enables complex scenarios to be tested and validated in a virtual environment, thereby promoting innovation in intell
Germany ZIM project with (international partner Spitzenberger & Spies GmbH & Co. KG) titled “Enhancing the usability of Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (easyPHIL)”. Power hardware-in-the-loop (PHiL) real-time simulation-based testing helps cut development time and de-risks deployment of advanced power electronic converters for a wide range of applications, including renewable energy integration and transportation electrification. The project’s main objective is to automate elements of the simulator that is currently done manually by specialised resources in a time-consuming process.
This International Co-Innovation Action Program (ICAP) project will prepare the firm to enter into future international co-innovation work, to identify co-innovation partners with extensive knowledge of the UK power grid in various aspects, actively addressing challenges related to the integration of renewable energy, grid resilience, and the imperative for real-time monitoring and control. Of particular interest is partners who share an enthusiasm for the digital twin market. An investment in the UK aligns with the company's strategic R&D initiatives while accelerating go-to-market timeline f
The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.
Participation in the Canadian clean technologies mission and the 2024 Cleantech Forum Asian. Delegation led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to establish relationships with key customers, end-users, investors and other international firms, which will help set the stage for potential Canadian projects in the upcoming Advance International Clean Technologies Demonstration (AICTD) Program call for proposals.
