Increase Uncrewed Surface Vehicle production to meet market demand for ocean data
Open Ocean Robotics will architect and design the naval architecture, hybrid solar-diesel energy integration, and autonomy control framework for a new Arctic-capable self-righting uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) platform optimized for defence, security, and maritime safety operations in Arctic and northern waters.
Support for Open Ocean Robotics to continue operations during the COVID-19 pandemic
This project will develop a solar powered uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) that is optimized for ease-of-use through the creation of an obstacle avoidance system and modular oceanographic sensor platform. Obstacle avoidance enables the USV to conduct missions with increased safety and with minimal intervention, making it possible to conduct endurance operations of multiple months and navigate in crowded waterways, which significantly grows our market for USV sales and mission-as-a-service offerings. An easy-to-use platform for diverse sensor integration of hardware and software components enab
Open Ocean Robotics (OOR) will optimize the design of its uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) to enhance its capabilities and to improve the manufacturability by creating processes, systems, and procedures.
To encourage scientific research and related scientific activities (e.g. data collection, integration, monitoring, and communication, including communication via conferences and symposia) and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the areas of: (a) Fisheries and Aquaculture Science; (b) Ecosystem Science; (c) Oceanography and Modelling; and (d) Freshwater Science.
This project will entail the production of two solar powered autonomous boats, Data Xplorer, equipped with equipment to conduct a bathymetric survey meeting the standards of the International Hydrographic Organization. The vessels will conduct an autonomous survey of Okanagan Lake to create bathymetric survey charts for boaters to safely use the lake and provide the Canadian Coast Guard with key information for placement of navigational aids. This project will demonstrate the feasibility of using a zero-emission autonomous vessel for work that is typically done using a crewed boat, which has
The funding provided from the Innovation Assistance Program is to assist innovative, early-stage small- and medium-sized enterprises that are unable to access existing COVID-19 business support.
The funding provided by the IAP program is intended to assist innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in the start-up phase that cannot access existing commercial support related to COVID-19.
The ICAP project will help the firm to expand into international markets for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of ocean carbon dioxide removal (oCDR). It will enable the firm to identify a co-innovation partner to advance the uncrewed surface vehicle and software platform and validate its use in field trials. It will also enable the firm to have a deeper understanding of the intended markets.
To provide employment for a recent graduate in the field of control systems to development of a customized control system for acoustic acquisition and processing, including hardware and software implementation.
The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.
