This project is to develop advanced interference mitigation technologies and digital twin simulations to enhance the resilience and reliability of satellite communications. The project is part of the Eureka CelticPlus Sustainet project
The objective of this project is to support the development of K-Band up/down converters (UDC) in the first phase followed by a second phase where the converters will be integrated into a single package with additional features and functionality added. This development will produce flexible, adaptable UDCs for Software Defined Satellite applications. The target of this project is TRL6 flight ready modules.
EUREKA GlobalStars Japan E!16116 Q-Band LNB project with Japanese partner SPC Electronics Corporation to develop a Q-Band Low Noise Block down convertor for Satellite Communications.
This project will take the designs to TRL4 level, with prototype modules designed and assembled for benchtop testing. The up and down converters will be integrated into a single module. In addition, a space rated microcontroller for controlling our flight ready UDCs will be added. The integrated UDC will be benchtop tested. The controller hardware will be designed as a prototype PCBA to interface to the converter modules.
Development of a Wide bandwidth Low Noise Amplifier for the Satcom market.
This project is a hardware and software project to develop an architecture for a modular design for frequency converters covering the 22 to 33 GHz bands.
Tracking, Telemetry and Control (TT&C) systems monitor satellite functionality, determine the satellite's location and control the satellite's behaviour. It is a required technology on all satellites, regardless of their application. As the market for communications satellites grows, regulators of the operating frequency bands have encountered challenges regarding the range of the usable band spectrum for navigation, communication, and Earth observation payloads. Orbital Research will develop a TT&C receiver for partner Tethers Unlimited, to be integrated into that company's TT&C system. The
Hardware and software development of a Ka-Band LNB for satellite ground terminal use with extended RF bandwidth input and IF output bandwidth.
The SUSTAINET feasibility study project is to help Orbital Research Ltd define a strategic roadmap, individual KPIs and integration points to better align its unique contribution to the project.
