In partnership with Indigenous Communities, PLEA Saskatchewan will create plain language legal resources that meet the legal information needs of these communities. The resources created will target a wide range of individuals from high school students to Elders, and will be available in print and online. The objective of this project is to design and deliver culturally relevant, accessible and empowering resources for the communities.
The project consists of the development of a dedicated French website with comprehensive plain-language family law legal information. The website will provide the same family law information currently provided in English on the Family Law Saskatchewan site and will also have the same interactive tool, allowing users to apply for a divorce in French without the assistance of a lawyer.
The project is to support the delivery of accurate and timely information to respond to various legal questions in the uncertain times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization will develop and adapt services to respond to increased demands for public legal information and tools to address multitude issues affecting Canadians.
This project will serve the needs of diverse and underserved families experiencing separation and divorce by developing pamphlets related to the recent changes in the Divorce Act targeted to new immigrant communities. The pamphlets would be printed in four languages and uploaded to the organization's dedicated website. Pamphlets would also be printed in English and would give audiences within Saskatchewan access to concise plain-language information about family law changes related to the amendments to the Divorce Act.
Update Public Legal Education Information resources as per Bill C-78, an Act to amend the Divorce Act, the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act and the Garnishment, Attachment and Pension Diversion Act and to make consequential amendments to another Act.
