Though green hydrogen production has the potential to reduce 37% of energy-related emissions if scaled, the process faces adoption challenges due to compromised electrolyser reliability, performance and costs. Owing to the complexity of the electrolyser system, off-design operating conditions lead to performance degradation mechanisms that could not historically be monitored or managed at the industrial stack scale. The objective of this project is to develop a dynamic model of a renewable electrolysis plant to inform optimal operating and design conditions for improved electrolyser efficienci
This Canada–Germany collaboration aims to accelerate the discovery of next-generation lithium-ion battery materials by integrating self-driving laboratories (SDLs), advanced diagnostics, and AI. The project focuses on optimizing cathode–electrolyte combinations to improve battery performance, safety, and longevity. Using rapid electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), high-throughput characterization, and AI-guided optimization, the team will develop and validate materials and methods for scalable production. Partners include Pulsenics, NRC, McMaster University, Preli GmbH, and Helmholtz-I
The Project aims to integrate a rapid electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technology into high-throughput experimentation (HTE) systems for battery material development. By combining Recipient's rapid EIS technology with NRC's expertise in HTE, the Project will eliminate signal interference and accelerate the characterization and optimization of cathode materials for nextgeneration batteries. The anticipated outcomes include increased accuracy, reduced development time, cost savings, and strengthened capabilities within Canada's battery supply chain.
Pulsenics enables the evaluation of the health and performance of electrolyser systems that split water to produce hydrogen. The capabilities of the technology will allow the systems to be more energy and cost efficient, while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Scale-up of the technology has the potential to increase the number of users, thereby increasing economic and environmental benefits.
This project aims to optimize the technical operations of Pulsenics' technology and products, focusing on manufacturing scale-up, product delivery, and operations management.
This International Co-Innovation Action Program (ICAP) project will prepare the firm to enter into future international co-innovation work. Specifically, Pulsenics seeks to internationalize its product to the German market.
