RCI Digital is looking to establish a set of industry standards for securing and authenticating 3D scan data of specimen fossil and cultural artifact.
Building upon RCI Digital's successful backend development utilizing distributed ledger technology to secure provenance for museum quality natural history 3D scans, this project is building a decentralized digital marketplace for interacting with these scans targeting hobbyist, research, and commercial interests. This project also introduces a new means of fundraising for public institutions through the development of collectible NFTs based upon the 3D data.
This project will test hypotheses and experiment with new mechanisms to optimize a repeatable and scalable business process, which may result in new business methods for RCI’s Digital Marketplace.
The development and optimization of an organic fungi-derived polymer chitosan composite for use as a hardened surface coating for casting museum exhibit objects.
Development of sustainable, fungal mycelium- and lignocellulose-based composites for producing museum-quality casts for exhibitions around the world.
Develop a 3D printing material, using chitosan particles, allowing for a safe, post printing process, providing better surface detail and smoothness than what other 3 D printing plastics are capable of.
The strategic market plan will assess the strongest and most accessible opportunities for the verification, protection, and authorized distribution of 3D fossil data as well as well cultural artifact data.
To develop a business plan for a 3D print material containing chitosan.
The application of a "Provisional" patent for a chitosan-based biomaterial developed during a previous IRAP funded research project.
Through the application of national and local priorities, the CSJ program seeks to provide youth, particularly those who face barriers to employment with access to work opportunities. Funded employers must demonstrate that they are providing quality work experiences for youth that provide opportunities to develop and improve their skills.
