To enhance a virtual reality healthcare training platform with artificial intelligence (AI).
This project aims to build a trainer controllable physiology engine to manipulate virtual patient vitals data such Heart Rate, Respiratory Rate, ETCo2, SpO2, CO2, Temp, BP and corresponding waveforms which appear on patient monitors including ECG, RESP, Pleth, CO2, Ch1:Art. In addition, to complement this new general system functionality we will build 3 complementary tools that utilize the system improvements including a virtual ventilator, x-ray display, and replay system for assessment and review.
Digital Humans can be used to train medical students and healthcare professional as an alternative to real-life “Standardized Patients” that are more conventionally used in medical training. Our project will leverage numerous cutting-edge video game technologies to create a solution to provide nursing and medical students with a way to conveniently practice patient-assessment through a configurable branching natural language dialogue system hooked up to photo-realistic dynamically animated virtual patients. The global healthcare system is in dire need of nurses and doctors with the skills to
This project focuses on adapting our VR Healthcare Training Platform for Japanese use. We'll translate all application text and modify the speech-to-text and text-to-speech systems for Japanese. Our AI chat will also be adapted for more complex interactions. A key technical challenge will be adjusting 3D avatars' facial expressions to accurately mirror Japanese phonetics, improving immersion and learning efficacy.
The Project will support pilot testing of AI strategies, determine target architecture, and set quantitative technical objectives for implementing an advanced real-time conversational AI solution for healthcare training. Through new audio streaming, speech recognition, and function-calling capabilities, the solution aims to streamline patient assessment simulations, enable multi-lingual interactions, and enhance both VR and non-VR clinical learning experiences.
We are currenting working to significantly improve the time in which it takes us to create the 3D character models for our virtual patients used by our healthcare simulation training product InvolveXR. By first streamlining our technical art pipeline into a more procedural and automated workflow, we can then leverage various new generative AI techniques to further drive that pipeline and ultimately provide simple tools to our medical educator clients, eventually allowing their scenario training creation to be as simple as typing in natural language.
