The iNLL project consists of developing, in collaboration with NRC-CCFP, a semiconductor DFB laser with a very narrow spectrum and a flat frequency modulation response over a wide frequency range. The optical performance, reliability and manufacturability of the iNLL laser, in chip and module form, will be evaluated throughout the project to ensure compliance with the requirements of optical detection applications.
The main goal of the Project is to develop a room-temperature detection technology for deep-infrared terahertz (THz) radiation with single-photon level sensitivity. This technological advancement will unlock novel quantum optical applications within this unexploited region of the electromagnetic spectrum. This collaboration is led by Jean-Michel Ménard, (UOttawa), Prof. François Blanchard, (ÉTS), NRC Researcher Dr. Angela Gamouras, and TERAXION., a manufacturer of optical components and lasers. The Parties comprise a complementary expertise in optical techniques that will support the demonstra
