This project is mostly related to technology research and development.
The objective of this project aims to work with their current agri-based PHA’s to enhance its properties and create a biobased bioplastic prototype that would meet the needs of the agricultural industry and provide benefits to the environment by reducing the plastic waste.
TerraVerdae Bioworks (TVB) is an advanced biomaterials company whose technology is based on the use of biobased and biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). TVB has demonstrated the large scale production of PHA and is now focused on development of PHA biopolymer products. This project will develop biodegradable polymer and composite formulations with enhanced mechanical properties and functionality required for high valued applications. This will include development of PHA-based plastics that have controlled biodegradability, such as agricultural mulch films, where field applied films
As part of the international consortium project “Eurostars 2256 SustainableSole”, TerraVerdae BioWorks Inc. in collaboration with KUORI GmbH (Switzerland), University of Northwestern Switzerland (Switzerland), and Wildling Shoes GmbH (Germany) will develop a biobased and biodegradable shoe sole material based on polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biopolymer and food industry waste streams. This will act as a replacement for conventional shoe sole materials, which have detrimental impact on the environment during their use phase (microplastics) and especially at their end of lifetime. The goal of this
UK EUREKA Network E!13271 TAMFI project with Pennotec (UK), Vitrion (UK) and University of Leeds (UK) titled "Optimization and Demonstration of a Sustainable Bioprocess for Extraction of Value-Added Food Supplements and Ingredients." This project aims to deliver an optimized sustainable bioprocess for utilization of functional ingredients for prototype food systems and nutritional supplements that extracts full value from a crustacean waste resources.
Funding will support research and development to identify solutions to National Defence’s Super sanitize: Cleaning sensitive equipment and workspaces Challenge. Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) in collaboration with Canada’s defence, security and public safety communities are looking for viable and effective processes and methods for safely and rapidly decontaminating enclosed work environments (e.g., buildings and modes of transportation) containing sensitive equipment.
