Additive component manufacturing in aerospace
Expand manufacturing facility and purchase equipment that add capabilities
The project looks to add additive manufacturing (AM) within the Manufacturing Division of Tronosjet, with a focus on working within the aerospace industry.
Domestic Metal Powder Production, Material Characterization and Development of Additively Manufactured Dual Use Applications
Create an aerospace component manufacturing facility
Develop additional material properties and characterization using laser powderbed fusion technology for the purposes of certification of aerospace components.
BAe 146 airtanker conversion
The project looks to optimize the thermal performance of an aerospace component to pass accepted industrial specifications. A prototype design has been fabricated, which must be modified by either geometric aspects, or the material utilized.
Acquire advanced manufacturing equipment
Acquire equipment to grow aircraft maintenance operations
Assessment of Australian market for a BAe 146 airtanker
Using Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies (both metallic and polymer) to manufacture components to aid in the care of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic where lack of equipment requires emergency alternative options.
The project includes final development of an aerospace component produced using additive manufacturing and functional testing, both internal and wind tunnel scheduled to take place at the NRC Altitude Icing Wind Tunnel in Ottawa.
Assist with hiring a quality assurance and control specialist
Determine the feasibility of manufacturing aircraft components utilizing 3D additive processes.
International Co-Innovation Action Program (ICAP) project : Tronos is an aerospace manufacturing company. We are looking to identify co-innovation partners who design unmanned vehicles and want to leverage the benefits of additive manufacturing, such as lightweighting, part consolidation and rapid iteration.
Tronos will implement a digital workflow for assembly and test of aerospace systems currently under development. A composable no-code platform will allow Tronos to scale across multiple manufacturing operations, providing full traceability, error-proofing and improved efficiencies. Real-time data logging from connected hardware will provide the foundation for new AI tools to be trained and deployed.
Implement quality assurance program to meet international certification standards
The project will provide valuable work experience for new graduate involving design for additive manufacture with aerospace customers, and internal development programs at Tronos. Work will involve design trade-offs, analysis including stress and build simulations, and optimization of manufacturing processes (additive and 5-axis machining).
Testing and Analysis of Additive Manufactured Specimens
Conduct product development of repurposed aircraft concept
