Next Generation Space and Ground Processing System for Web-Based Distribution of Earth Observation Data Products from Dual Band SAR and Optical Sensor Payloads
This project entitled «A Dual Frequency, Fully Polarimetric, Digitally Beam Formed, Multichannel SAR Receiver Exciter» aims at advancing the state-of-the-art in the field of space-based radar imagery. The technology would allow the collection of larger amounts of radar image data in two frequency bands. This data would be processed faster and delivered to ground-based users at supercomputer speeds thereby yielding clearer and more detailed images. This technology would be the core element of UrtheCast's planned 16 satellite constellation.
This project entitled ""Dual L and X Band Active Planar Array Antenna for Space-based Radar"" aims to develop the design of a new Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) antenna capable of transmitting and receiving on both X and L bands simultaneously with a single aperture. This will include building a prototype subpanel to validate the performance. The targeted application for this technology is for a SAR payload deployed on the International Space Station.
This project entitled ""On-Board Autonomous Cross-Cueing of EO Sensor Systems for Maritime Domain Awareness and Tasking Optimization"" has the objective to develop a unique space-borne on-board autonomous cross-cueing and collection tasking system, allowing for optimized high-resolution optical image acquisition yields and downlink capacity utilizations. The operational applications for such a system would be low-latency ship detection and identification reporting, and cloud-free target imaging.
The funding provided by the IAP program is intended to assist innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in the start-up phase that cannot access existing commercial support related to COVID-19.
The project objective is to test and analyze the radiation performance of an FPGA.
